FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Notre Dame hockey team will take its show on the road this season when the Fighting Irish host a regular-season Central Collegiate Hockey Association game versus the Michigan State Spartans at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Sunday, November 22. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
Tickets for the meeting between these two CCHA rivals will go on sale to the public on Saturday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be $14.00, $12.00 or $7.00, and will be available at the Memorial Coliseum Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at (800) 745-3000.
Notre Dame enters the 2009-10 season coming off of its second CCHA regular-season and postseason titles in 2008-09 when the Irish were 31-6-3 overall and 21-4-3-3 in league play. Coach Jeff Jackson’s team returns 15 monogram winners from last season, including eight of its 10 top scorers and a defense that includes All-American Ian Cole and fellow all-CCHA selection Kyle Lawson.
This marks the third time since the 2004-05 season that Notre Dame has played a regular-season CCHA “home” game at the Memorial Coliseum. On February 18, 2005, the Irish faced Michigan in Fort Wayne and dropped a 9-2 decision to the Wolverines. On December 30, 2006, Notre Dame faced off against Northern Michigan and took a 4-3 decision over the Wildcats.
Notre Dame will also serve as hosts of the 2010 NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Midwest Regional Tournament on March 27-28 at the Memorial Coliseum. Tickets for that event will go on sale in October.
Michigan State leads the all-time series with the Irish, as the Spartans are 59-34-9 all-time against Notre Dame. Notre Dame has won the last three meetings in the series, including a 3-1 win in the NCAA West Regional finals in March of 2008 at Colorado Springs, Colorado. Last season, Notre Dame swept the season series with the Spartans, winning 5-0 in South Bend and then 2-1 at Munn Arena in East Lansing, Mich., the following night.
