Our employment practices are without regard to race, color, religion, creed, gender, age, disability or medical condition, national origin, and veteran status, and all other categories protected by federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws. The County of Allen maintains the position of EEO Officer to facilitate Equal Employment Opportunity. Americans with Disabilities Act Employment Policy
It is the policy of Allen County to comply with the ADA by not discriminating on the basis of disability in the areas of recruitment, hiring, training, promoting, compensation, and all other areas of employment.
It is the responsibility of an applicant or employee with a qualified disability to make their employing Elected Official/Department Head aware of his or her disability and to request, based upon the nature of the disability, an accommodation. If the applicant or employee meets the Act's definition of a "qualified individual with a disability", the Elected Official/Department Head and the ADA Coordinator will work together in order to identify how to effectively accommodate the applicant or employee. If the accommodation requires a leave of absence, and such leave also qualifies as FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), both leaves will run concurrently. If the ADA leave does not qualify for FMLA, the employee will be responsible for the full cost of their insurance.
Allen County's intent is to comply with all applicable requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. If an employee feels that they have been treated in some way that is inconsistent with this policy, they should contact the Human Resources Department to file a complaint. For a copy of the complete ADA Grievance procedure, contact the Human Resources Department at 449-7217.
Employees and members of the public may submit suggestions to Allen County's ADA Coordinator on how the County can better meet the needs of those persons with disabilities. The ADA Coordinator can be contacted at: Human Resources Department, Allen County, Indiana, 200 East Berry Street, Suite 380, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802.
